Claude Bolling

C laude Bolling was born
in the beginning of the 30's in Cannes (France), and early showed great
talent for music and piano. He is the disciple of some of the greatest
jazzmen, such as his friend Duke Ellington, and has become a famous
pianist, arranger and composer. He composed numerous film music. His
music, which goes from classical music to jazz, is characterised (in
my opinion) by a great sense of melody, originality and technical perfection.
I discovered it with"Original Ragtime", one of the most beautiful
ragtime performances, but Claude Bolling is well-known thanks to his
Suites that harmoniously mix classical music and jazz. Yet we must
not forget the numerous piano solos composed by this extraordinary pianist. |
